At 1:45 a.m. after a wedding block, I offered a room move and two breakfast vouchers instead of comping the night for a noise complaint, and the guest left relieved. What recovery limits or guidelines do you use (we cap at $100 per incident), and how do you coach teams to de-escalate without reaching for the comp button first?
At 1:45 a.m., I coach agents to use a simple ‘second-call guarantee’: apologize, dispatch security, and say, ‘I can move you if you want, or add $40 F&B now; if it happens again tonight, we’ll add another credit up to our “cap at $100”.’ It keeps us out of the comp reflex and gives the guest a clear path; small caveat, I don’t push a move at that hour unless they ask. Do you let night audit auto-trigger the second credit on repeat calls?
